The movies showcased on this site were shot using a Dslr ( still ) camera, using a “movie mode” feature. Although these films look as though they were shot on expensive HD or film video cameras, they were in fact shot, probably using a Nikon or Cannon Dslr.
Before now, achieving a great film look meant either an investment of tens of thousands of dollars, or at least a few grand and some extra hardware to adapt dfferent lenses to conventional consumer grade HD video cameras. Now that we have the ability to shoot video straight from our handheld dslr ( such as the Nikon D90 or Canon MarkII 5d ) the world of beautiful ciinematograhy can be anyone’s for a fraction of the cost (e.g. the Nikon D90 is currently around $99 usd). This opens up a whole new world of creativity for a lot more people.. and that’s exciting.
