Cinephotographer” is a term used to reference a traditional photographer, that has turned to cinematography most probably influenced by the accessibility of shooting video using traditional Dslr cameras that have ah HD movie mode option.

DSLRMovie Mode
Cameras that currently have a “Movie mode” option for recording footage are the Nikon D90 as well as the Canon 5D MarkII. These cameras can be set to movie mode through the “live view” mode of the camera and can record HD video ( 720p on the D90, and 1080p on the Canon 5d MarkII )

DSLR Movie mode allows traditional photographers to shoot high quality video in HD using traditional photography lenses with sharp pictures and D.O.F ( depth of feild ) without having to purchase an additional HD video camera. This makes experimentation with cinematography completely accessible to photographers which influences the conversion from capturing stills to capturing motion.
